Koe de Oshigoto! 「こえでおしごと!」 is an anime about 16 year old Kanna who was drafted by he sister into becoming a voice actress in her game studio. Well, not just any kind of game studio. You know, that kind of game studio. If you know what I mean.
She gets drafted (with ample resistance, of course), and we see her practicing the role, being given an H-Game to play as an example with. While we see her finally getting the hang of saying the words that are really embarrassing to say (you know….), her apprehensiveness until the end are hilarious, and realistic, at best.
So she finally makes the cut by being one of the best damned voice actresses of the studio.

Can’t say much in the summary though, since a lot of them are uhh… spoilers for the things to come.
Anyway, I liked the way this series played the scenes out. She was the unwilling girl who had to try and to play out the roles that were laid out for her, and that she had to learn from her sister, fellow voice actress and Onii-chan. How she relates to them and how she slowly learned to actually do well in the recording studio was good, and in this kind of anime, played straight.
One thing that this series surprises me though is how the eroge company is played– many of the stuff you see in the production company are quite realistic.
The art style. Ahh yes. The Art style. The art is quite heavy on the lines. This kind of style kind of reminds you of how VN’s or galges or eroges look like in-game– 2D character art over lush backgrounds.
The show has a lot of running gags on Kanna and on how she is going to be a really good voice actress; there are a LOT of scenes here that speak in a lot and many different levels. Yes. In more ways than one. And yes they are all suggestive.
What else can I say? Well… anything more will just spoil the fun. Just grab your own copy and watch it… making sure no one else is looking over your shoulder.
