Mekakushe’s-“Yuwanamerou”-cover

Mekakushe’s “Yuwanamerou” (from Kowloon Generic Romance) Now Streaming! [PRESS RELEASE]

Posted on 18 June 2025 by TheMartinV

Singer/songwriter mekakushe’s song “Yuwanamerou,” which was used in Episode 10 of the TV anime series Kowloon Generic Romance, was released online on June 8.

Kowloon Generic Romance is a hugely popular mystery-romance anime based on Jun Mayuzuki (of After the Rain fame)’s latest work, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies.

Following the ending theme “Retronym of Love” and the Episode 7 insert song “Watashi Dake no Polaris,” this marks the third mekakushe track featured in the series.

“Yuwanamerou” was written and composed by mekakushe, with arrangement by Ryohei Sataka (Hifumi, inc.), who also handled the series’ score. The result is a wistful pop song that delicately expresses the complexity of a woman’s hidden emotions.

Mekakushe’s Comment

To me, love is like the aurora—like a mirage, it shines beautifully because it’s born from loneliness. When I imagined the moment of meeting someone, it felt like a rush of heat sweeping through my heart, creating an aurora. It was something like a solar flare. That feeling is what inspired me as I wrote “Yuwanamerou.”

Mekakushe’s Profile

Handling lyrics, composition, vocals, and piano performance by herself, the next-generation singer-songwriter Mekakushe enjoys immense popularity among artists and creators. Starting classical piano at the age of three, she gradually gravitated towards pop music. Her independently produced songs were featured in a Kao Laurier commercial, and she was one of the top artists on the Spotify official playlist “Kirakira Pop Japan” with a total of 3 million plays. She is a promising emerging artist with anticipated future success. With electronica as the foundation in her recordings, her musical style continues to expand, featuring classical solos and band sets in live performances.
