Since their debut in 2016, Walküre, the tactical sound-unit from Macross Δ, has taken the music world by storm. They’ve topped the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart, the Billboard Japan Weekly Singles Chart and won the Japan Gold Disc Award for “Animation Album of the Year.” Their activities temporarily came to a close following their arena tour FINAL LIVE TOUR 2023 Last Mission, which consisted of six shows that drew in approximately 74,000 attendees. Now, they’ve made a comeback with a new song to commemorate the 10th anniversary of TV anime Macross Δ.
Two versions of “Walküre wa Makerarenai” will be released: a first-press edition and a standard edition. Both versions will feature the titular track, which exudes a classic kayō-style vibe that truly embodies the essence of Walküre; “No Limit! No Brake!,” a club anthem that signals a new direction following their comeback; “Ka·i·ka·n,” a fusion of Showa-era pop and techno, and “Ikenai Borderline ~Perfect 5 Mix~,” a re-recording of their signature song “Ikenai Borderline” featuring added strings and performed by all five members. All four tracks were created specifically for the new audio drama included with the first-press edition.
Disc 2 of the first-press edition features the Macross Δ 10th anniversary audio drama “Kyousou no Walküre,” a new work written by the series’ writer Toshizo Nemoto. The story depicts a race in which all five members must rely on their strengths in a battle to promote the new MVF (Micro Variable Fighter).
Additionally, the jacket illustration was designed by series illustrator Chisato Mita (CAPCOM).
To further celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series, full versions of music videos from the series will be released weekly on FlyingDog’s Official YouTube channel. “Ichido Dake no Koi Nara” will be released November 5 at midnight, followed by “Zettai Reido Θ Novatick”, “Walküre ga Tomaranai”, “Walküre wa Uragiranai”, and “Mirai wa Onna no Tame ni Aru.” Subscribe and don’t miss these never-before-released videos!
