The Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha Series – Raidou Kuzunoha XIV Heads to The Capital
Created as a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, the first Raidou Kuzunoha game debuted in Japan on PlayStation 2 in 2006. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army was an instant classic and launched this new iconic ATLUS series to success.
Set in an alternate reality during the Taisho era, the unique setting and detective premise set it apart from both Shin Megami Tensei and Devil Summoner, paving the way for the 2008 release of Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon.
Protect the Capital as A Daring Devil Summoner
It is the 20th year of the Taisho era in Japan. As the movement toward Westernization begins to intensify, sinister beings known as demons threaten the peace and order of the Capital unbeknownst to its inhabitants.
Raidou Kuzunoha XIV, a Devil Summoner who wields the power to decimate demons, is tasked with protecting the Capital from these threats. Moonlighting as a detective apprentice at the Narumi Detective Agency, he works around the clock to solve mysterious cases linked to demons.
One day, a young schoolgirl appears with a bizarre request.
“I want you to… kill me.” The client is Kaya Daidouji, the only daughter of the prestigious Daidouji family.
However, before she can explain, she is abducted by mysterious figures. Tracking her down won’t be easy for Raidou and his boss, Narumi.
This mystifying abduction is about to escalate into a full-blown crisis that will put the Capital and the entire country in jeopardy.
Main Characters
Raidou Kuzunoha XIV (VA: Tomokazu Sugita)
The protagonist: a calm and quiet boy in his late teens.
Since taking on the name Raidou Kuzunoha XIV, he has been tasked with using his extraordinary Devil Summoner abilities to safeguard the Capital.
Outwardly, he’s a student at Yumizuki High School helping out as an apprentice at Narumi Detective Agency.
He leverages his position as a detective to gather information, utilizing the powers of his devil allies to solve any case involving demons swiftly. Beneath his cloak, he carries several demon-slaying tools: a sword, a gun, and multiple tubes for sealing demons.
Partner to Raidou Kuzunoha
Gouto-Douji (VA: Jouji Nakata)
A black cat nicknamed Gouto.
He serves as Raidou’s mentor, following him wherever he goes.
While he’s capable of human speech, only devil summoners can understand him—ordinary humans hear only the cacophony of an everyday cat when he speaks.
Gouto has a deep understanding of Devil Summoner techniques and offers useful advice to Raidou no matter the situation.
His true identity hidden behind that adorable feline mask remains a mystery.
Head of the Narumi Detective Agency
Narumi (VA: Takehito Koyasu)
Raidou’s superior: a cheerful and easygoing man who runs a detective agency specializing in supernatural cases in a corner of the Capital.
Laid-back and cheerful, “Fun and easy living” are the words he lives by, and it certainly shows. He tends to push cases onto Raidou and selects requests almost exclusively based on the reward money. He seems irresponsible at first glance, but in truth, he carries a strong spirit, always rushing to the aid of those in need and standing up to whoever would trample the less fortunate underfoot.
His unusual past has helped him amass an extensive network of connections across the army and government.
Reporter for the Capital Daily
Tae Asakura (VA: Rika Morinaga)
An independent, modern woman who works as a reporter at the Capital Daily.
Tae strives to improve the social status of women while confronting the sexism of Taisho-era society with indomitable grit.
Her pen name is Kichou, a reference to a woman she admires.
She has a generally strong will, though she can also be a little scatterbrained at times. She prefers to be called “Kichou”, but she is typically addressed endearingly as “Tae” anyway, despite her protests.
Daughter to an Illustrious Family
Kaya Daidouji (VA: Akari Kitō)
The only daughter of the prestigious Daidouji family.
Born to one of the wealthiest families in the Capital, she is a student attending Ouran High. Her calm and gentle personality makes her well-liked among family servants and classmates.
She approaches the Narumi Detective Agency with the bizarre request to take her life, but winds up kidnapped by a mysterious faction.
Imperial Army Major General
Munakata (VA: Rikiya Koyama)
A Major General concerned for his country’s future.
He spearheads the enigmatic Super Soldier Project.
Rumors suggest he commands a special unit with inhuman capabilities, attempting to eliminate anyone who may impede the fruition of the project.
Those who know Munakata seem to agree that he is a strikingly different person now than he used to be.
Dark Summoner
Rasputin (VA: Shunsuke Takeuchi)
A crooked Devil Summoner hired by Munakata.
He contains and summons demons using magical tools called Matryoshkas, which resemble the Russian dolls of the same name, making him a formidable threat to Raidou.
Despite his shallow, degenerate nature and unique manner of speech, his skills as a Devil Summoner are second to none. His avarice compels him to take on any task with a cash reward—but he won’t do anything beyond what he’s been paid to do.
Devil Summoners like him who work in the criminal underworld are known as Dark Summoners.

Additionally, the new Autosave feature automatically records your progress as you advance through the story. You can also Quicksave by accessing the pause menu!
・Difficulty Settings
Choose from five difficulty levels. Sleuth offers the most forgiving experience, preventing Raidou and his demonic allies from dying. Gumshoe provides an easygoing playthrough, Private Eye presents the standard difficulty level, and Truth Seeker will put your skills to the test. Finally, Detective Legend will be unlocked after you’ve completed the game once, bringing the highest possible challenge.
Feel free to change the difficulty at any time while playing!
