VIRTUA FIGHTER Combat Mechanics

September 30, 2025 – SEGA has revealed details on the revamped combat and battle modes in the New Virtua Fighter Project.

■ 2 Battle Modes

 

The New Virtua Fighter Project features 2 distinct modes, each catering to different playstyles and preferences.

 

【Standard】

 

The traditional way to play. The first player to fully deplete the opponent’s health or send them out of the arena for 3 rounds is the winner.

 

【Uprising】

 

A brand-new mode designed around turning the tables.

 

■ New Combat Mechanics

 

Three new mechanics completely redefine the combat in the latest entry to the Virtua Fighter series, enhancing strategic depth to a whole new level.

 

【Break & Rush】

 

Each body part accumulates damage when attacked. Parts are destroyed upon reaching a certain threshold, tipping the fight in the attacker’s favor. Injuries also carry over to other rounds, adding an entirely new dimension to combat.

【Stunner & Stun Combos】

 

Stunner is a new type of striking technique that can be strung into combos. These moves don’t require challenging inputs and simulate real-world techniques.

An innovative defense mechanic built around stylish movements. This feature meshes with Break & Rush, allowing you to instantly turn the tides offensively and defensively.
