Persona 5 Tactica Update - KV 01

All About the New Battle System

July 18, 2023 – SEGA has released new information on their upcoming tactical RPG from ATLUS, Persona 5 Tactica, which is scheduled to release on November 17, 2023 (Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Nintendo Switch™, Steam). This time, we’ll be delving into the game’s unique battle system and game mechanics.

Battle System

• For Any Good Thief, Taking Cover is Key!

Taking cover behind walls is an important part of the game! Ending your turn in Cover will reduce or completely block incoming enemy damage.

If you get attacked while out in the open, the enemy will get a One More and be able to attack again, so try to keep close to the walls!

• Attack Enemies in Hiding! Coordinate with your Team to Combo One Mores!

Enemies will also take cover behind walls during battle. Sneaking up on them and striking them with a melee attack will break their Cover!

You can follow up with an ally’s attack to trigger another One More!

◂In Joker’s current position, the wall prevents him from effectively attacking the enemy. While they are in Cover, using a skill like Eiha will not trigger a One More. However, if you blast them away with Ryuji’s melee attack first…

◂…they’ll land right in Joker’s line of sight! In addition, you’ll get a chance to trigger a One More!

• Use Persona Skills to Inflict Ailments!

Elemental skills will inflict ailments when used. Attacking enemies with Agi will apply Burn, whichdeals damage when they end their turn. Zio inflicts Shock, an ailment that prevents foes from taking action for 1 turn!

Furthermore, it is possible to break an enemy’s Cover by attacking them with skills. Master the use of these skills to create openings during battle!

• Turn the Tides of Battle with Unique Skills!

During combat, the star-shaped Voltage gauge on the bottom-right of the screen will gradually fill up as you attack enemies or take damage.

Once the gauge is completely filled, you will be able to use unique skills, which are abilities that are distinctive to each character! Unique skills have a variety of different effects. Some of them deal heavy amounts of damage to your enemies, while others provide support to your team. Call on these unique skills to escape from dicey situations!

• Freely Upgrade your Teammates through their Skill Trees

All party members can be powered up as you wish through their skill trees. Growth Points (GP) are used to acquire skills in the skill tree. You earn GP when your Phantom Thieves level increases, or sometimes when you engage in conversations found in the Talk menu.

You can reset your skills at any time, so don’t be afraid to customize your characters and try out new combinations!
